SBI Clerk Missing - Mr. Surendra Pal Singh

Agra, Uttar Pradesh: A chilling cry for help has surfaced from the banking world, leaving millions shocked and heartbroken.

Surendra Pal Singh (40), a senior clerk at the State Bank of India (SBI), Chhipitola Housing Loan Branch in Agra, wrote a gut-wrenching letter before mysteriously disappearing. In his note, he revealed the unbearable humiliation and insults he allegedly faced at work every single day.

“I am writing this letter with a very heavy heart… I can’t take the daily abuses and insults anymore. I am tired of the humiliation.”

These were the last words Surendra left behind before vanishing on 18 August, never to return home.

😔 A Man Broken by Daily Humiliation

Surendra had been transferred just three months ago from the main branch to the housing loan (RACPC) branch. Already struggling with a severe spinal issue, he used to wear a medical belt and carry medicines to work.

But instead of understanding, his colleagues allege that an officer mocked his condition—calling his belt and medicines an “excuse,” accusing him of “acting for sympathy,” and publicly insulting him in front of others.

Each insult chipped away at his dignity. Each remark deepened his wound. Until finally, he broke.

🕯️ The Last Goodbye

On 18 August, after facing yet another round of humiliation at the branch, Surendra walked out around 11:50 AM.

By 5:30 PM, he called his nephew Sachin, handed over his bike and a sealed envelope, and said he was going to get medicine. He never came back.

Inside that envelope was a two-page letter—a letter soaked in pain, describing how workplace harassment had destroyed him.

Since then, his phone has been switched off. His family waits, terrified of the worst.

🚨 Family’s Anguish, Police’s Silence

His younger brother, Manoj Pal Singh (himself a banker in Gujarat), says:

“My brother was pushed to this condition by constant humiliation. He was unwell, yet mocked for his illness. He was broken from inside. We went to three police stations, but no one filed a proper FIR. We fear something terrible has happened to him.”

The family alleges they ran in circles—from Tajganj to Rakabganj to Sadar police stations—but each passed the case to the next. Even when they showed the note naming the officer who allegedly harassed Surendra, the police reportedly tried to water it down.

⚖️ Police Response

DCP City, Sonam Kumar, has stated:

“Based on the family’s complaint, an investigation will be conducted. Evidence will be collected regarding the allegations, and a team has been assigned to trace the missing employee.”

But for the family, words are not enough. Each passing day without Surendra deepens their fear.

💔 A Mirror for Every Banker

Surendra’s story is not just about one man. It’s about an entire profession where targets, taunts, and toxic workplaces often crush the human soul.

Bankers are seen as secure, respectable employees—but behind the counters are men and women who silently carry:

  • Unrealistic expectations
  • Verbal abuse in meetings
  • Transfers that uproot families
  • No empathy for health or personal struggles

Surendra’s note is not just a letter. It is the voice of thousands of bankers who feel trapped in silence.

🌸 Final Word

As his family waits for his return, one question echoes:

👉 How many more lives must be destroyed before the system accepts that dignity matters more than deposits, and respect matters more than revenue?

If you are a banker reading this, you know Surendra’s pain. If you are not, look closely at the smiling banker who serves you—they may be fighting battles you never see.

Share this story. Speak up. Demand change. Because silence is killing our bankers.
